The Tyranny of More
You know that feeling of waking up on a day that you don’t have anything overly important scheduled, and there’s light streaming through the windows, and a delightful orchestra of birdsong to entertain you, and you’re just feeling so blessed to be alive? That’s me today, on this lovely Saturday morning.
So today is supposedly a rest day for me, but I’m also keenly aware of the energetic pull to do more, write more, create more, connect more…
To pursue the ever-elusive tyranny of more because when you’re running an online business, the work is never done.
Or rather, it isn’t done until you say it’s done.
So hand on my heart, eyes closed, slow breaths, I’m checking in…
Am I creating an environment for my business to grow and thrive and feel phenomenal?
Because if not, what’s the point?
Do I feel enough of spaciousness and harmony in the way I’m running my business?
Because if not, it simply becomes unsustainable.
And do I feel enough of that beautiful balance between the yang of performance and the yin of nourishment?
Because if not, I’m heading towards burnout.
So I’m calling it. I’m flipping the off-switch on my need to perform, if just for today.
Today belongs to me in all its magnificent glory. For resting. For dreaming. For curling up on the sofa with my fave magazine and copious cups of rooibos tea. For walking on the beach and breathing in the soft, silky colours of sunset. For sitting under the stars and doing absolutely…. Nothing.
